Guerlain celebrates 100th Anniversary of Shalimar Perfume

LVMH-owned French beauty house Guerlain is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its legendary perfume Shalimar.

Created in 1925 by Jacques Guerlain as a homage to the legendary love story of Emperor Shah Jahan and Princess Mumtaz Mahal, it is a cornerstone of the Guerlain house widely recognized as the first amber fragrance in history,

To mark the milestone, the maison has released Shalimar L'Essence, a new interpretation of the original fragrance composed by Guerlain's Director of Perfume Creation, Delphine Jelk. Featuring a more intense vanilla tincture from Madagascar, complemented by luminous bergamot and powdery iris, it is an ode to vanilla resulting in a richer, more modern, and sensual fragrance.

The fragrance comes in art Deco inspired bottle featuring its golden logo in a modern design and font that elegantly fuses heritage and modernity. Additionally, Guerlain partnered with Franco-Brazilian artist Janaina Milheiro for a rare, limited-edition collector's art piece bottle of Shalimar featuring feathers and silk-thread details evoking the tropical gardens of Frida Kahlo's Casa Azul. not available for general retail purchase

Guerlain marked Shalimar's centennial with a campaign photographed by Charles Helleu featuring it's long-time muse model and philanthropist Natalia Vodianova. The images acknowledges the generations of women who wear the fragrance and highlights their long-standing loyalty.

Guerlain's Shalimar L'Essence fragrance (standard edition) is available now for purchase through Guerlain's official website, Guerlain boutiques as well as select perfume retailers. Check out the campaign images here.
